After years of open source adoption in many countries outside of U.S., we should think about lessons learned. Why is U.S. so slow in adoption and use of open source on a large scale? Are we exposing ourselves to risks of falling behind? I think we are (by "we", I mean the developers in the U.S.)! Large software companies are so powerful that innovation an progress are limited to preset, profit-driven paths. This might sound a bit "leftist", but I truly believe that what had happened in other countries makes them more powerful in the area of software development and design.
